About Us

We are a group of volunteers who share a love of sailing and a commitment to provide opportunities for young people in our local schools to learn to sail safely and affordably. We aim to teach children the basic skills to sail safely for pleasure, to gain RYA qualifications or to enjoy the thrill of competition.

The LDSA is self financing and runs on donations from participating schools, grants from charitable organisations and funds raised by running adult courses.

Supervision and teaching are undertaken by our volunteers, many of whom are teachers, some who are students but all who are fully qualified RYA Senior Instructors, Dinghy Instructors, Power Boat Instructors or Assistant Instructors.

We are affiliated to Hykeham Sailing Club and enjoy a close relationship with the many competitive sailors who are always willing to pass on their knowledge and experience. The club provides changing and shower facilities

During the season we sail after school on most evenings and on many weekends.

"That's all well and good, but...where are you exactly?"

The LDSA is based on the Apex Lake in North Hykeham. Access is down the lane next to the Fox & Hounds Pub. The lane is signposted with a brown information sign. Entrance is to Hykeham Sailing Club members or LDSA Course Participants only due to security issues.
