PRINCIPAL’S
WELCOME
The LDSA – The Lincoln and
District Sailing Association, a recognised RYA Training
Establishment - is an association of Lincolnshire schools which
exists to promote the sport to students in the county. Manned
entirely by volunteers, many of them teachers, and funded mainly
by our students and their schools, the association has its own
boats at Apex Lake in North Hykeham and shares the facilities of
the Hykeham Sailing Club there. Schools sail in the evenings
from April to October and provide their own fully qualified
Senior Instructors, Dinghy Instructors and rescue boat handlers.
Any schools are welcome to sail with us as long as they, or
schools already involved, can provide trained staff. We teach
sailing up to Instructor level and many of our sixth formers
gain this qualification before going on to sail at university
and to earn money teaching during their vacations. We are
keen to expand and offer free training to any teacher who wishes
to bring pupils sailing.
To help fund our sailing we
also run a few courses each year for adults who wish to learn to
sail, to handle a power boat or to improve their sailing. These
courses are always very popular and early booking is
recommended. You will find details elsewhere on this website.
Thank you for visiting our web
site. We hope you will find the opportunity to sail with us some
time.
